Project Desciption

The project was initiated by the Department of Drainage and Irrigation in Selangor in order to resolve the Selangor river pollution issues caused by tonnes of floating debris that were from Kuala Lumpur. The objective of this project is to upgrade and improve the existing log boom system. Log boom system is a cost-effective approach to trap, collect and contain floating material or submerged debris in rivers. This project cost around RM320,000.

OKC started the upgrading work in July 2019 and completed in October 2020. The products used in this project were log boom and trash screen. With the installation of the new log boom and trash screen, the river was cleaned up. Also, the odour pollution caused by trash in the river was resolved.
